After forming in 2005 the league has grown from strength to strength with over 200 women and girls now participating in an active and competitive sport loved by all ages and abilities.
For those new to the sport, the game takes place between 2 teams of 9 players who have 2 "innings" of batting and fielding per game. Points, or "rounders" as they are commonly known, are scored by the batting side when a player strikes the ball with the bat and then runs around all 4 of the posts arranged in a diamond shape without being "stumped out" by the fielding side. Half points can also be scored by reaching second base without stopping.
The League plays over two divisions on a Tuesday evening with a division playing from 6.30pm and the other division playing at 7.30pm, between May and July each year at St Bernard's RC High School on Rating Lane, Barrow in Furness.
Preparation is made throughout the year for the commencement of the league, with our AGM and team registration taking place in February. We are an affiliated league of Rounders England who provide us with guidance and support during the season and as such we abide by their rules and regulations so as to provide a safe environment to enjoy the sport.
